In case you're wondering what's Lifeline about, it's a ministry for College and Young Adults! It's comprised mostly of college students from Taylor's, Sunway, and Monash who meet every Friday for talks, small group sharings, FUN nights, and the like. Lifeline is a ministry which TCS would strongly encourage all of you to visit and perhaps join! In fact, STM Lifeline and of course, by God's grace, provided the foundation for the establishment of our very own Taylor's Catholic Society here in Lakeside!
So this month, STM Lifeline is organizing their camp with the following details:
Theme: 'Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?'
Date: 27th-29th August 2010 (27th is a Selangor public holiday. No classes!)
Date: 27th-29th August 2010 (27th is a Selangor public holiday. No classes!)
Venue : Villa Dominic, Genting Highlands

TCS resumed!
Welcome back! Hope you guys didn't party too much during the break because TCS is back with a zest of fi-yahh!
Moving on, TCS will resume gatherings on 4th August, Wednesday, 5-7pm at E6.15. Also we have great plans lined up for August.. Here we go!!
As mentioned before, the chosen theme for August is Theology of The Body which was founded by the late Pope John Paul II. Wondering what's it about? Here's a short excerpt from the official website:
The 'Theology of the Body' is Pope John Paul II's integrated vision of the human person - body, soul, and spirit. As he explains, the physical human body has a specific meaning and is capable of revealing answers regarding fundamental questions about us and our lives:
- Is there a real purpose to life and if so, what is it?
- Why were we created male and female?
- Does it really matter if we are one sex or another?
- Why were man and woman called to communion from the beginning?
- What does the marital union of a man and woman say to us about God and his plan for our lives?
- What is the purpose of the married and celibate vocations?
- What exactly is "Love"?
- Is it truly possible to be pure of heart?"
For this month, we'll be doing things a little different by starting off with a movie called "Bella" (Nope, no the Bella from Twilight!). So come, watch this awesome love story by Catholic producers and actors which shows much about loving someone. Bring your snacks and a friend along! ;)
Move title: Bella ( more info )

Daily prayer meetings
Hey guys,
We'll be having daily prayer meetings (Monday - Thursday).
Time: 12.10pm till we finish praying (perhaps 5 to 10 minutes :))
Venue: Wooden tables and chairs along Level 2 Corridor leading to Student Central
It's a casual meet-up and prayer time where we just take time off from our busy schedules, come together as a Catholic community and pray for one another. It will be a good time to offer up intentions (exams, assignments, family, friends, relationships, etc etc) and also a good time to just be still, and let God know that we trust in Him and allow Him to take control of our lives.
Hope to see you there! :)

Recruitment drive + post-TCS outing (in campus)
Shalom, everyone!
We had a recruitment drive last Tuesday with other clubs and societies, and boy, should you look at the crowd!
Our booth!
Stacie and Emily giving out flyers to passersby :)
Then last Wednesday, we came together to watch the movie of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It was very very old and the audio was quite difficult to hear. All the same, it was an inspiring movie. For me, personally, I felt the movie taught me to never be afraid to stand up to the truth even when people may not believe me now because if God wills it, He will make it happen.
And I thought it was pretty funny when Juan Diego said to Mother Mary, "Good morning, Mother. Did you have a good sleep last night?" LOL!
After the movie, a few of us went for dinner at Truffles in campus.
Us outside Truffles
The food was good but the fellowship was better! :D We had a great time with one of the hospitality lecturers, Mr Patrick, who got our table cracking.
Overall, it was a good week and we look forward to next week when we'll come together again in Room E6.14 and learn more about our Papa. 5pm, Wednesday. See you there!

Our Lady of Guadalupe screening... only in TCS :)
Shalom, everyone!
As you all know, we're currently in the month of Mary so we've committed ourselves to praying the rosary together every week. And today, we learnt how to pray the rosary in Bahasa Indonesia!
It was something different for us Malaysians, to pray in a different language. (And some of us even prayed the wrong thing! which caused others to stiffle their laughter) Nonetheless, we have to admit that the Indonesian language illustrates precisely the meaning of each prayer.
Next week, we will be coming together to watch a movie! It's on the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
So bring along your popcorn and snacks as we cosy up in room E6.14 at 5pm. See you all there! Pax Christi!

Do be informed that every Wednesday, we are having rosary prayers in Room E6.14 at 5pm. Come join us as we ask our Lady for her divine intercession :)

TCS gathering 3: Standing Up for Our Mother
Hi all!
Last week, we had a good time enjoying the creation of God by the lake. We shared about what we saw and felt and from there, reflected on the great things that God has done in our lives. How He has blessed us and loved us in the simple things. And how, with that much of love He has given us, we are to share and spread that love to our neighbours, classmates, families, friends, lecturers, the poor, etc etc.
This week, though, we will be in Lecture Theatre 7 to learn how to stand up for our Mother. We'll cover the common misconceptions of Mary and discover how biblical the Catholic Church teachings are on her.
So if you have always been asked questions like "Why do Catholics worship Mary?" or "Why do Catholics pray to Mary? The bible never says anything about that!", then come join us and learn the Truth.
We'll gather at 5 - 7pm as usual at the Lakeside Campus. Do bring along your rosary, as it is the month of rosary, so we will be praying it. And bring along your bibles if you can :)
Additionally, this month we'll be having weekly Rosary prayers every Wednesday at 5.00 p.m. Again do bring your rosary.
Unless of course if you're well versed using your fingers ;)
5th May : Standing Up for Our Mother @LT7 (Lakeside Campus), 5.00-7.00pm
12th May : Praying the Rosary @ E6.14 (Lakeside Campus), 5.00-6.30pm
19th May : Praying the Rosary & Group sharing @ E6.14 (Lakeside Campus), 5.00-6.30pm
26th May : Praying the Rosary @ E6.14 (Lakeside Campus), 5.00-6.30pm
See you there!

We are family
We had our first official meeting last Wednesday! Praise the Lord!
Although we got off on a bumpy start, it was an eye-opener to realize and to remember the rich heritage we have in the Catholic Church.
As our speaker Jessica said, "We are a family."
This reminds me of a joke I once read:
The Priest of a parish asked his deacon to help put him on the phone with the Superior of the nuns. So the deacon called up and a nun answered.
He said, "Hello, Sister. Brother here. Is Mother in? Father would like to speak to her."
Good Catholic joke, no? :P
Anyway, stay tune for updates on the next meeting! And we hope to see you there! God bless and have a great weekend!
psst! don't forget to go for Mass!

God is our heavenly Father;
Jesus the groom;
the Church His Bride;
the Pope our spiritual Father on earth;
Mary our Mother;
and all the angels and saints in heaven with all the Catholics around the world... we are brothers and sisters in Christ!

Driven Purpose
Taylors Catholic Society (TCS) is to be a support group to all Catholic students on campus in terms of upholding their Catholic faith and traditions. Furthermore, TCS is to nurture young Catholic students to become leaders of the society and university life especially in the Catholic Church, for the present as well as for the student.
Lastly but not absolute final, TCS will be a place of personal development for all Catholic students as all programmes and activities will be planned and executed in line with the following seven principles:
- To be sound in the Word of God
- To be committed in Prayer
- To be passionate in Love
- To be nourished by the Sacraments
- To be filled with the Holy Spirit
- To be excellent in Lifestyle
- To be accountable to one another before Christ
